Conveyors in Today’s Modern World

Posted in: Business |

Many industries today are certain to agree that they would have not succeeded in their designated fields if not for a piece of technology called a conveyor. It is quite hard to imagine a large automobile company that doesn’t have an industrial conveyor to help them move cars, automobile parts and accessories along their manufacturing processes. Even small businesses now use standard conveyors.

With the help of modern technology, primitive conveyors first used in the 19th century were given a new look, greater capacity and performance as well as additional features. New designs of conveyors were introduced to the market. Other types of conveyors were also invented. Wire mesh conveyors are used for oily or wet products, vibrating conveyors are best for food products while incline surveyors are good for the transportation of materials between floors or levels. Some conveyors in today’s time are now controlled with the use of computers.

Aside from businesses’ use, conveyors are now also being used in the moving of baggage in airports. The longest baggage handling system in an airport today is in the Dubai International Airport, measuring up to the length of 92 kilometers. On the other hand, the longest belt conveyor in the world is at 100 km long. This belt conveyor can be found in Western Sahara, running from Bu Craa up to the coast south of El-Aaiun.
